Winter Horseback Riding: What to Expect
- No horseback riding on check-in and check-out days.
- Winter rides are walk-only for the safety of both horses and guests.
- Winter horseback riding trails are more limited due to the winter snow and are maintained by the horses consistently walking them to keep the trails packed and usable. Because of this, the ranch designates trails for winter riding that are closer to the main ranch compound, and with the winter elements these are typically shorter loops. If you want to explore more of the ranch’s 8500+ acres in the winter you may wish to consider a snowmobile tour or a visit during our warmer months where all the trails are open.
Presidents’ Day is February 16th in 2026, so take advantage of the long weekend and treat yourself to a wonderful winter getaway! You can arrive as early as February 11, and stay as late as February 22, for a solid week of Colorado’s legendary winter fun. Come to the Ranch and play in the snow, ride a horse, go snowtubing, strap on skis or snowshoes for cross-country treks or hit the pond for some ice hockey. Eat lots of gourmet food and sleep like a baby in our luxurious cabins. If that’s not enough, snowmobiling and visits to our award-winning spa are also available at an additional charge.
